As a result of increasing demands by citizens to play a greater role in decision-making processes, facilitated by revolutions in modern information and communication technologies, citizen engagement has been put on top of the agenda of local governments around the world. At the same time, there are significant potential benefits for government as a result of enhancing citizen engagement, such as gains in political legitimacy and enhanced quality and efficiency of service delivery. The Center’s research in this field aims to stimulate effective and meaningful citizen engagement practices within local government in the Kingdom and encompasses topics such as community development, public opinion in planning processes, co-creation and crowdsourcing, citizen engagement of local and municipal councils, and women and youth participation in government.
Women comprise nearly 30% of the new class of over 40 students, one of the highest levels of female participation for tier-one business schools in the region.
